This video shows how we make the traditional breakfast of the Dominican Republic — Mangu with Los Tres Golpes. That translates into buttery creamy smashed plantains, crispy fried flavorful Dominican salami, fried cheese, eggs, and pickled onions. This recipe is appropriate for cooks of all levels!
Your Shopping List For This Meal:
4 to 6 green plantains
Dominican salami (we recommend Induveca)
Queso de Freir (we recommend Tropical)
4 eggs
1 red onion
1 stick of salted butter (we used 1/2 of a stick for 4 medium plantains)
at least 1/2 cup of olive oil (for frying eggs, salami, and mixing the plantains)
1/2 cup of vinegar
salt and black pepper (to taste)
cold water (for desired mangu consistency)
